On the 27th of May 2008, H. E. Charles Mwando Nsimba, the Minister for Transport and Communications of the Democratic Republic of Congo appended his signature to the revised Northern Agreement. This historic event took place in Goma in Eastern DR Congo and was witnessed by the TTCA Executive Secretary, Mr Godfrey M Onyango, other senior staff members of the TTCA Secretariat, DR Congo Government officials, as well as members of the business community using the Northern Corridor.
![]() The signing of the agreement by the DR Congo Minister brings to an end the signature process as the other four contracting States of the Northern Corridor Agreement, namely: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda had already signed the Agreement in Nairobi on 6th October, 2008. At that time, the DR Congo had not completed her constitutional requirements to enable the Minister to sign the agreement. The revised Northern Corridor Agreement will come into force as soon as three of the five contracting States have ratified it. It is expected that the majority of the contracting states will have ratified the agreement by October this year.
