Statement from the Executive Secretary
After more than twenty years after the signing of the Northern Corridor Transit Agreement ( 19 February 1985) by Burundi, DR Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, the Northern Corridor Transit Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) has engaged in transforming the Northern Corridor into an economic development corridor through:
- competitive international transit transport services;
- promotion of national and regional trade and regional integration; and
- promotion of private investment.
This transformation is only possible with the participation of all the stakeholders (from both public and private sectors) involved in transit transport and trade facilitation as well as the users of the Northern Corridor, to eliminate all sorts of barriers, and the reduction of costs and transit delays along the corridor.
This inclusive participation in discussing strategies and actions to be carried out is only productive if performance indicators and adequate information are made available to everyone.
Hence, the Northern Corridor Web Site offers an opportunity not only to share data on performance indicators provided by the TTCA Transport Observatory, but also to share information and essential reflections in defining and implementing strategies to eliminate obstacles to transport and trade facilitation in the Northern Corridor region.
Indeed, through a continuous update and according to requirements by all the stakeholders, NCTTCA will provide necessary data to discussions and reflections to make real the objective of transforming the Northern Corridor into an economic development corridor. In this regard, we expect from each and everyone of you an undeniable support to the web site through availing statistics and other useful information.
We wish you a good exploration of our web site and invite you to the forum of discussions thanks to wonders of the information technology.
Executive Secretary.
