Kampala, Uganda | 10 – 11 March 2025 – The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) successfully convened multilateral meetings between Member States of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Uganda to assess the progress of cross-border infrastructure and multimodal transport projects.

​​​​​​​The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) and the Kühne Foundation have joined forces to advance sustainable development in the Northern Corridor region.

During its 58th Session held in January 2025, the Northern Corridor Executive Committee directed the Northern Corridor Secretariat to embark on activities towards the development of a Regional Logistics Hub within the Naivasha Special Economic Zone on a 50 acres of land parcel granted to all Northern Corridor Member States by the Government of the Republic of Kenya.

Juba, South Sudan – January 30, 2025 The Ministry of Transport (MOT) of the Republic of South Sudan, in collaboration with the Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) and other key stakeholders validated and launched the Revised South Sudan Transport Sector Policy (2026-2036) developed with support from the NCTTCA, a monumental step in shaping the future of South Sudan’s transport infrastructure.

Mombasa, Kenya – February 3, 2025: The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) hosted a delegation from Djibouti’s Technical Committee on a benchmarking visit aimed at learning from the Northern Corridor’s advanced corridor management, transport monitoring via the Transport Observatory, and trade facilitation mechanisms.

In a landmark initiative to enhance road safety along the Northern Corridor, the Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA), in collaboration with key stakeholders, successfully conducted a Road Safety Awareness Campaign in South Sudan from November 18th to 22nd, 2024. This impactful campaign, spanning three days, aimed to promote safer road usage along one of Africa’s most critical trade routes. The event, hosted in Juba, brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, law enforcement, transport operators, and the public, in a united effort to reduce road accidents and save lives.

On 15th February 2024, the Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) and Africa Women Agribusiness Network-Afrika (AWAN AFRIKA) sealed a longstanding partnership culminating in a harmonised joint work plan and a Partnership Agreement (MoU). The MoU is intended to enable the two parties to explore and collaborate in the areas of Regional Socio-Economic Development through co-creation, joint planning, implementing, executing, monitoring, and evaluation of programs in the Northern Corridor Member States, covering; Cross Border Trade, Mainstreaming of social economic dimensions of poverty, Gender, and equity, Resource mobilization for projects agreed upon, as well as any other undertaking involving socio-economic issues affecting regional trade, transit transport and logistics value chains in the East Africa Region.

The RSS program started in 2014 following a feasibility study of the entire Northern Corridor by the Northern Corridor Secretariat aimed at providing road users with safe and comfortable road travel conditions and contribute to local economies. The study identified 141 locations for RSS out of which 67 were considered as priority locations. Out of the 67 priority locations identified along the Northern Corridor, 27 are in Uganda. It developed three categories of RSS designs and their requirements for compliance and detailed the financial projections and models for their development.
