๐— ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ฎ, ๐—ž๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜†๐—ฎ โ€“ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฏ, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฑ: The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) is led its Technical Committee Meetings at the ๐™‘๐™ค๐™ฎ๐™–๐™œ๐™š๐™ง ๐™ƒ๐™ค๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ก ๐™ž๐™ฃ ๐™ˆ๐™ค๐™ข๐™—๐™–๐™จ๐™–, ๐™†๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฎ๐™– from ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ฎ 13 ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ฎ 15, 2025, bringing together stakeholders from Northern Corridor Member States ofย Burundi,ย DRCongo,ย Kenya,ย Rwanda,ย SouthSudan and Uganda to discuss key issues related to transport policy, customs and trade facilitation, infrastructure development, and private sector investment promotion.

The meetings reviewed the implementation of activities in the 2024/2025 fiscal year, presenting updates on major programs and activities undertaken across Member States, and discussed priority activities for the Member States to feed into the Northern Corridor workplans for the next fiscal year.

โ€ข Corridor performance monitoring. The 20th Edition of the Transport Observatory Report has been finalized.
โ€ข Development of the Northern Corridor Emissions Trackerย in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme to monitor and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and a baseline study on road freight transport in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
โ€ข Delivery of eco-driving and freight management training workshops in Kenya and Uganda, equipping transport managers and drivers with sustainability strategies.
โ€ข Bilateral meetings between Uganda and DRC to integrate customs systems and streamline data sharing and multilateral engagements on cross-border transport infrastructure projects, including railways, inland waterways, and transboundary roads.
โ€ข Road safety campaigns in Rwanda and South Sudan to reduce road fatalities.
โ€ข Progress on the Naivasha Special Economic Zone (SEZ), including feasibility studies and master planning for the 50-acre land allocated to Member States.
โ€ข Advancement of the Roadside Stations (RSS) Program, with operational facilities in Kenya and upcoming developments in Burundi, DRC, and South Sudan.

The NCTTCA also highlighted ongoing partnerships withย ย European Union, Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, TradeMark Africa, Equity Bank Limited Group , and AGRA, among others to support the Corridor's development. These collaborations have facilitated capacity-building initiatives, corridor performance monitoring, improved access to financing for MSMEs, and enabled updates to the Northern Corridor Infrastructure Master Plan, among other initiatives.
