Mombasa, Kenya, 01 October 2026 – The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority and the Kenya Transporters Association Ltd have formalized their cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting, implementing and scaling up eco-driving and other green freight initiatives among transport companies in Kenya and along the wider Northern Corridor.

The partnership supports implementation of the Northern Corridor Green Freight Strategy 2030, which seeks to make freight transport safer, more efficient, environmentally sustainable and competitive.
Through the MoU, the two institutions will work together to strengthen the capacity of heavy commercial vehicle drivers, transport and fleet managers in eco-driving and sustainable freight practices.
The collaboration will promote fuel-efficient driving, improved road safety and fleet management, reduced greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions, better use of fuel-efficiency and emissions data, and integration of eco-driving into transport companiesβ operations.
It will also encourage peer learning and the adoption and scaling-up of successful green freight practices across the transport industry.

The partnership brings together the complementary roles of NCTTCA, in providing technical guidance, coordinating capacity-building programmes and supporting monitoring of fuel efficiency, emissions and road-safety outcomes, and KTA, in mobilizing transport operators, facilitating industry participation and promoting the adoption of eco-driving and green freight practices among its members.

Through this collaboration, the two institutions will contribute to a more efficient, safe, competitive and environmentally sustainable freight transport system, while supporting the transition towards greener logistics along the Northern Corridor.
